UV Laser

A New Wave, Nd-YAG 213 nm UV laser is used to map ⁴⁰Ar/³⁹Ar age distributions in thick section materials.  Double-polished thick sections are 5 mm in diameter and ca. 50 microns thick. Reflected and sub-stage illumination is provided through the 0.6 CM viewable sapphire windows of the mini-conflat laser cell.  Automated analysis is possible after manual targetting of analysis locations using the New Wave software via signal lines to the LabView extraction line control software.
